It’s officially the most magical time of the year, and Downtown Colorado Springs is ready to
sleigh it! Grab your kiddos, bundle up, and head Downtown to eat, drink, celebrate, and make
some new holiday traditions.
Skate in the Park, our city’s only outdoor skating rink, opens Friday, Nov. 14 in Acacia Park.
Public skate sessions are from 4–6 p.m. and 7–9 p.m., and it’s all part of the Acacia Park
Holiday Celebration & Tree Lighting.
Festivities kick off at 5:30 p.m. with a community carol singalong at the Acacia Park bandshell
led by the Soli Deo Gloria Choir (your moment to belt out “Jingle Bells” with zero judgment).
Then at 6 p.m., gather around the rink for the tree lighting, a visit from Santa, skating demos by
U.S. Figure Skating athletes, and a few festive words from Mayor Yemi Mobolade.
Skate tickets are $15, with first responders and military receiving $2 off. Little ones 4 and under

Then on Saturday, Nov. 15, the fun keeps rolling! Starting at 11 a.m., you can meet Santa,
Buddy the Elf, Elsa and Anna, and even the Grinch. They’ll be posing for free photos from 11
a.m. to Noon (get in line by 11:45 a.m.), then strolling the Downtown shopping district until 2
p.m. While you’re Downtown, pop into the local shops on Tejon and Bijou streets to get a jump
on holiday gifts, sip cocoa, and maybe sneak in a little “treat yourself” shopping too. Carolers
from Soli Deo Gloria Choir and Christmas Brass will be providing a festive shopping
soundtrack, and you can warm up with a free hot drink at the Shamrock Foodservice
Warehouse Warming Station on Tejon Street across from Acacia Park.
Any shopping you do can qualify you for prizes, too! Submit receipts from any retail purchase
