Music & Play COS is a Colorado Springs–based music education business that offers engaging, play-based classes and lessons for all ages, from infants to adults. With a focus on creativity, confidence, and connection, we provide Music & Movement classes for young children, as well as non-traditional piano, voice lessons, and our Jungle Beat Summer Music Camp, that help students begin making real music from the very first session. Rooted in a nurturing and welcoming environment, Music & Play COS blends education with fun, using hands-on activities, movement, and exploration to inspire a lifelong love of music while helping students grow in skill, self-expression, and confidence.

This summer, we invite kids ages 5-8 to join us as we embark on an adventure deep into the heart of the jungle, where we’ll meet crawling caterpillars and mischievous monkeys, explore the sounds of the jungle biome, and learn about the many inhabitants of a jungle landscape. If we keep our eyes peeled, we may even get a peek at the jungle’s more elusive inhabitants, like bats and spiders!

Spark a Passion for Music That Lasts a Lifetime

Music education doesn’t have to be boring. We have specifically designed our Jungle Beat Summer Camp curriculum to be both exciting and challenging for young minds to keep them engaged through five days of stimulating camp sessions. We’ll explore the animals and sounds of the jungle, gaining an appreciation for the music made by the natural world along the way. Music made with quality instruments, not toys, will become our medium for storytelling.

Quality Curriculum

Campers will experience curriculum from the award-winning program "Music Rhapsody," developed by internationally renowned music educator Lynn Kleiner.  Based upon the proven “Orff Schulwerk” methodology, which blends music, speech, movement, and drama, your camper will be immersed into music they will love.  Diving right into real music holds attention while providing a structured environment for students to learn.

Why Music?

Music is fundamental to healthy neurological development in children. We believe all children should be given a robust music education to foster their cognitive, social, and emotional development. Jungle Beat Summer Music Camp isn’t just a fun summer activity (although it is extremely fun), but also an opportunity to exercise your young learner’s brain while he or she is out of school. The benefits of music education are scientifically proven and far-reaching.

  • Promotion of learning and long-term information retention
  • When introduced early, music dramatically impacts a child’s language development
  • Movement activities and timing games develop motor skills, coordination, body awareness, and spatial concepts
  • Listening, comparing, and responding to various types of music develops thinking skills, while the songs, rhymes, and finger plays strengthen memory.
  • Repeating patterns and counting beats develop math and literacy skills
  • Participating in group dances and musical games encourages social skills.
